Youth Centre Coalition:
We are working with all the youth centres in the Basin to assist in the development of a youth centre network. The goals of this network include professional development, sharing ideas, human resource management, and assisting in developing a comprehensive youth centre strategy.
Peers R Here Program:
In partnership with the Nelson & District Youth Centre, we have produced the Peers R Here Manual and DVD. Peers R Here is a barrier-free peer support program for young people, enabled through the training and support of peer leaders. Topics include advocacy training, suicide prevention, and drug and alcohol awareness.
Youth Community Service Award Scholarship:
The Youth Community Service Award is designed to assist those graduating from Grade 12 in the Columbia Basin to pursue post-secondary education or training. The award focuses on community service rather than academic achievement. Community service can relate to your local school, regional, provincial, national or international service activities.
Basin Youth Action Forum:
The purpose of the youth forum is to create a means for young people in the Columbia Basin to get together, formulate ideas, and move them in to action. The youth forum will be happening in October 2008. Keep tuned in to scratchonline for information!
Scratch Magazine & Scratchonline:
SCRATCH magazine connects youth in the Columbia Basin and encourages the exchange of information about issues and ideas of interest to youth. SCRATCH is one part of CBT’s Youth Media Program. The magazine is published twice yearly with all the writing and artwork submitted by Basin youth.
SCRATCHonline is one of the ways we find and choose submissions for the SCRATCH magazine. The website highlights CBT Youth Initiatives, events and promotes social networking through a gallery of great art, photography and writing.
